What Is This Thing About Prostitutes?
I was hanging out with my mates last weekend, we had quite a bit to drink and I don’t know how the conversation ended up talking about prostitutes.
One of the guys said that he had visited a hooker before, but we didn’t really believe him. I mean he is a good-looking, decent bloke, he could get any girl he wants, so why a hooker?
Don’t get me wrong here; I don’t disrespect prostitutes, not at all. I mean that’s what they do, not what they are. Maybe they have their beyond saying reasons, or maybe life didn’t give them much choice.
“Well, all excitement and no responsibilities, what more could a guy ask for? Plus when you are not emotionally involved, you can’t get hurt either!”. That’s the answer he gave us when we asked him why.
It kind of makes a little sense in an irresponsible way, but still, I’ve had loveless sex and I have had in-love sex, and I know which sort is better. Does it differ for guys that much?
The guys were saying that many of their friends call hookers too, they just don’t talk about this sort of things when there’s a girl around, that’s all.
I guess maybe that’s a guys bonding thing. Just say when you are out on a date with a guy, he probably tells you how many girlfriends he’d been with, but not how many hookers he had visited. That’s not very impressive, is it?
In the press, there are always scandals about which celebrities called for hookers, and the hardest thing to understand is “why?” when they have a girlfriend that all the guys would die for.
And I always thought that the people who go to prostitutes are the people who cannot get it from anywhere else, but apparently I was wrong about that too!
So why do men do this? What makes prostitutes so irresistible?
I remember not long ago, Babydoll wrote a piece called A Prostitute and A Girlfriend. She suggested that sometimes prostitutes are better than girlfriends. When I first read it, I was astonished by her absurd point of view. I was thinking, it’s bizarre enough to compare a girlfriend with a prostitute, let along to say the latter is better!
Now after that rather unpleasant discovery that night, though I can’t say that I am totally agree with Babydoll’s point of view, maybe there is some truth in it after all.
